Waste Management Inc Announces 14% Advance In Q1 Bottom Line

Waste Management Inc (WM) revealed a profit for its first quarter that gained ground compared to the same period last year.

The company said its bottom line climbed to $258 million, or $0.58 per share. This was higher than $227 million, or $0.49 per share, in last year's first quarter.

Analysts had expected the company to earn $0.55 per share, according figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

The company said revenue for the quarter rose 4.6% to $3.18 billion. This was up from $3.04 billion last year.
