MBABANE – Champions of the KFC Football Beat Five-a-side tournament will have more reasons to be merry as they will also be presented with a soccer kit.

Following the success of a training day in the past week, all roads lead to Manzini Club, which hosts the final, dubbed a Family Day, on Saturday, starting at 9.30am.  According to a statement from the organisers, the winning team will receive KFC trophies and also take home the soccer kit as an added bonus.

“The runners-up will receive KFC medals for participating in the tournament,” reads the statement.
“The public is also invited to join the festivities on the day as there’ll be more games and KFC prizes to be won.”

Top 96 players made it to play in the upcoming final after becoming top scorers during activations across the various participating KFC outlets.
Two local teams partnered with KFC Football Beat on this campaign ahead of the main day.

They are All-Stars Ladies and Manzini Wanderers, who made time to coach the aspiring football stars in preparation for the upcoming tournament. The coaches took their teams through some soccer skill drills.
“The atmosphere at training was filled with anticipation as the top 96 arrived at Manzini Club last Saturday. Upon registration, the children were split into six teams, according to the age groups; 10-12years and 13-14 years. “They had an opportunity to meet their fellow teammates as well as their coaches,” reads the statement.

Meanwhile All-Stars Ladies team is made up of models and executives such as Matspha Town Council CEO Gciniwe Fakudze, Lindokuhle Mthupha and Sasha Groening-Mnyakeni, to mention a few. The team was put together by Swazi Boy Entertainment in 2008 to give a breath of fresh air to the sport and to take away the perception of being seen as a man’s game.
“Representing Wanderers were long time favourites in the soccer fraternity, Jerry ‘Mbazo’ Gamedze, Botsotso Manyatsi and John ‘Shisa’ Mdluli.”
