IIT JEE (Main) Results 2016: Over 400 students from Vadodara qualify for JEE advanced

As the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) declared results of the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) main on Wednesday, students who have qualified, have started preparing for the JEE advanced examinations.

VADODARA: Over 400 students from the city qualified for the JEE (advanced) to get entry into the prestigious Indian Institute of Technologies (IITs), the National Institutes of Technologies (NITs) and other centrally funded technical institutes.
As the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) declared results of the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) main on Wednesday, students who have qualified, have started preparing for the JEE advanced examinations.

"A total of 251 students from our centre have qualified for the JEE advanced examinations as the cut off marks this time is 100 in general category. The cut off marks is 70 in OBC category, 52 in SC category and 48 for ST category students," said director of IIT Ashram, Vadodara, S R Mishra. JEE (advanced) 2016 papers are scheduled to be held on May 22.
"I will now start preparations for JEE advanced. I want to become an electrical engineer preferably from one of the top four IITs," said Kaushal Majmundar, a student of Rosary High School, whose father Kalpesh works with the Vadodara Municipal Corporation and mother Trusha is a housewife.Majmundar who has scored 275 out of 360 marks had recently qualified in the National Standard Examination (NSE) for chemistry.
Sharaph Menon, a resident of Anand and student of Anandalaya, who had recently scored All India Rank 82, in the Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana, this time scored 273 out of 360 marks in JEE (main).
"I want to go for pure science and not engineering. To pursue my interest in pure sciences, I wish to take admission in the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore," said Menon, whose father K Krishnakumar is a school teacher and mother Yamini Krishna is a lecturer at M S University's Faculty of Commerce.Interestingly, he too had recently qualified in NSE for biology, chemistry and physics.

"A total of 93 students from our centre have cleared JEE main and will be working hard to clear the advanced examinations. Priyansh Dalsania, a student of Delhi Public School, Harni, who was getting coaching from us, has scored 275 out of 360 marks," said centre head and dean of FIITJEE, Vadodara Jitesh Joshi.
"I had expected to score above 250 and am preparing hard to get into IIT Mumbai," said Dalsania, son of businessman father Ramnik and mother Jyotsna, a housewife.
