CHENNAI: Stating that dynastic rule is against the principles of democracy, AIADMK chief J Jayalalithaa on Thursday asked party cadres to strive for the victory of candidates in all the 234 assembly constituencies in Tamil Nadu who contest the May 16 election on party’s two leaves symbol.
In a statement meant to pep up the party cadres, Jayalalithaa said there were some people in the state who were trying to wean away power for themselves and their family.
“To save Tamil Nadu from these people and to ensure the continuation of the good governance of the AIADMK government, we need to win in all the seats is the coming assembly election,” said the chief minister.
“Dynastic rule is against the principles of democracy. A single family holding power within themselves is against the equality for all,” she said without naming any party or individual.
She said only if all got a chance, new ideas would come forth. New ideas would help take more welfare measures.
“Educated under AIADMK founder M G Ramachandran, I am steadfast in giving a chance to all, uplifting the downtrodden and all around growth. As part of this, the AIADMK government has provided several schemes and all of them are historic,” she said.
Listing out the welfare measures rolled out in the last five years, the AIADMK chief said, “I have been fulfilling all development schemes with a vision on the future. For all these to continue, we must win in all the constituencies.”
Advising the cadres at all levels to do their allotted work and not cross their limits, Jayalalithaa said, “For the first time in Tamil Nadu political history two leaves symbol will be fighting in all 234 constituencies. The cadres should strive to secure victory for the AIADMK in the centenary year of MGR.”
