Port Adelaide has been torn apart by injury, with star midfielder Robbie Gray expected to miss the next few weeks with a hamstring strain.

The Power has dropped out-of-form ruckman Matthew Lobbe but had their hand largely forced when it came to other changes for this week's match against Richmond.

Chad Wingard will miss the match after being diagnosed with a delayed concussion, while Gray was injured during a training session on Wednesday night.

Defender Jackson Trengove will miss the match due to a one-game suspension, while youngster Karl Amon has also been dropped.

The omission of Lobbe may mean Charlie Dixon spends time in the ruck for his new club, though Dougal Howard has been named to play his second senior game.

Brendon Ah Chee, Jarman Impey and Jared Polec have also been recalled, while Nathan Krakouer will play his first senior game for the season.

Krakouer played his first game in the SANFL on the weekend, after having his jaw broken in an off-field incident during the preseason that saw the club suspend him for six games.

Port Adelaide head of performance Darren Burgess said scans would reveal the extent of the damage to Gray's hamstring.

"It's really disappointing for Robbie," Burgess said. "He injured the hamstring at training last night and we'll get him scanned to see where he's at."

Wingard played out last week's loss to Geelong, after being cleared by medical staff at three-quarter-time, but was diagnosed with concussion when symptoms presented after the match.

"We take concussion seriously, and we'll need to have Chad reviewed again next week, which is a standard procedure when we can't clear him to play this weekend," Burgess told the club's website.

"We're hopefully he'll get the tick and be cleared to play against Brisbane."
