MCC to build public toilets at 10 spots
Mysuru: On a drive to ensure cleanliness in the city, the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) is focusing on sanitation in public places.
It has identified 10 spots in as many wards for the construction of public toilets. This is as part of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, mayor B L Bhyrappa said on Wednesday, adding that the remaining 55 wards will also be covered.
This comes amid the civic body's move to partner with society in keeping the city spick and span.
In a nationwide survey, the tourist hub scored less marks for the lack of public toilets, especially in the city centre. This forced MCC to focus on the issue. Bhyrappa told reporters the construction of public toilets in the 10 places will be taken up shortly.
He said MCC has approved a project to build 2,684 houses under various central and state government schemes.
