Sixteen employment opportunities in various disciplines have arisen within the Southern African Development Community (SADC) secretariat, headquartered in Gaborone, Botswana.

Vacancies available include directors, heads of department and officers.

Positions at SADC have a duration of four years, renewable once.

In a statement released yesterday, Secretary for Foreign Affairs Ambassador Joey Bimha urged qualified and experienced Zimbabweans to apply for the posts.

“Zimbabweans, who are results-oriented, have a passion for the transformation and development of Southern Africa and possess the required competencies, are encouraged to apply. SADC is an equal opportunity employer and particularly encourages applications from female candidates,” said Ambassador Bimha.

He said in terms of recruiting, SADC used a recruitment system based on quota points, which assured a balanced representation of all SADC countries.

Ambassador Bimha said for further details on positions that Zimbabweans could apply for, the job profiles and SADC application forms, should refer to the SADC website which is accessed at www.sadc.int

Details can also be obtained from the national contact point, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Munhumutapa Building or via website www.zimfa.gov.zw.

All applications must be submitted to the SADC national contact point on or before May 13 2016.

SADC currently has 15 member states with a population of 250 million people and a combined GDP of $467,3 billion.

The overall objective of SADC is to achieve development and economic growth, through increased regional integration built on democratic principles and equitable and sustainable development.
