Chennai: The Nadigar Sangam (SIAA) on Wednesday said it has no issues with actor Ajith as published in a section of media and also on Simbu quitting the association.
At a thanksgiving meet for the success of Star Cricket, treasurer Karthi said the association’s long pending debts had been cleared through the funds raised for construction of a new building by holding the event.
Reacting to a query on whether Vishal was locking horns with Ajith who did not turn up for the cricket programme, the actor said, “There’s no problem between me and Ajith. People ask me as to why I am not calling him sir. I know him for long and don’t believe in such formalities. Someone is doing this for their own publicity.”
Citing a newspaper (not DC) for its “irresponsible journalism”, general secretary Vishal said, “I was upset when they reported that I stopped Ajith’s song from being played at the after party of Natchathira Cricket. How silly,” he said.
Vice-president Ponvannan said, “Ajith has been following this policy of not attending public events and film pujas for long and the sangam is aware of it. We at the sangam share a good rapport with Ajith sir”.
Responding to Silambarasan’s decision to leave the association, Vishal said he respected Simbu’s decision, but clarified that all actors are treated equally by the sangam.
When quizzed why many top actresses like Hansika, Nayanthara and Kajal did not turn up at the event, Vishal said, “We are not going to invite anyone hereafter. They should have the responsibility and feel this is our sangam, and we should support one another”.
