Macuata team manager Meli Matarugu has faith in the players selected for their opening Skipper Cup campaign against newly promoted Malolo at 3pm on Saturday at Subrail Park in Labasa.

“I have faith and confidence in our players to perform their best,” Matarugu said.

“This is our first match and I would like to request to the fans of Macuata team to come out in numbers and support our boys.”

Matarugu said the team officials had a hard time selecting the final squad to play this first match because the full squad were fighting over the final 23 places.

“We selected players based upon their fitness level, attendance and their performance during the training sessions,” Matarugu said.

“We are happy to have last year’s national Under 20 player who hails from Macuata Province, Ilisoni Lagi Drauna and we also have some new players.

“We are aware that Malolo will come fully prepared and we do not under-estimate them.”
