Sixteen more candidates filed nomination papers for the Assembly elections in the district on Wednesday.
Three nominations each were filed in Chirayinkeezhu and Kazhakuttam, two nominations each were filed in Varkala, Attingal and Vamanapuram constituencies, while one nomination each was filed in the Vattiyurkavu, Parassala, Aruvikkara and Neyyattinkara constituencies.
In the Chirayinkeezhu constituency, S.P. Sashi of the Welfare Party, P.P. Vava of the BJP, and Santhini, Independent, filed nominations.
In the Kazhakuttam Assembly segment, Anish, Independent, M.A. Wahid of the Congress, and Manimekhala, Independent, filed nominations.
Varkala Kahar of the Congress and Abdul Salam of the SDPI filed nominations in Varkala constituency.
B. Sathyan of the CPI (M) and K Sivanandan of the BSP filed nominations in Attingal.
T. Saratchandra Prasad of Congress and R.V. Nikhil of the BDJS filed nominations in Vamanapuram.
Ambily V. (CPI(M) dummy candidate) in Vattiyurkavu, Rajasenan of the BJP in Aruvikkara, Christopher Shaju, Independent in Parassala, and K. Ansalan of the CPI (M) in Neyyattinkara were the others to file nominations in the district. As per the personal asset details declared by the candidates during the filing of nominations, Kazhakuttam Congress candidate M.A. Wahid has Rs.50,000 in his bank account and Rs.35,000 in hand, while his wife has Rs.50,000 in hand. He also has shares worth Rs.6.3 lakh. His wife has gold ornaments worth Rs.14.40 lakh. His gross assets are worth Rs.45.5 lakh and those of his wife are worth Rs.15.19 lakh. Their immovable assets are worth Rs.3.50 lakh and Rs.34. 90 lakh respectively.
Congress candidate Varkaka Kahar has Rs.10,000 in cash and Rs. 50,000 in banks. His spouse has no cash in hand and has deposits to the tune of Rs.22,189. He has movable assets worth Rs.50,741 and wife has Rs.38.36 lakh worth assets.
While he has no immovable assets, his wife has immovable assets worth Rs.55 lakh.
CPI (M) candidate B. Sathyan has movable assets valued at Rs.65,403 and his wife has assets to the tune of Rs.27.05 lakh. Their immovable assets are worth Rs.2 lakh and Rs.12 lakh respectively.
BJP candidate Rajasenan has Rs.10,000 in cash and Rs.1.60 lakh in bank accounts. He has movable assets worth Rs.9,95,174 and his wife has movable assets worth Rs.2,25,864. Their immovable assets are worth Rs.1.61 crore and Rs.40 lakh respectively.
