Couple jumps into Gandhinagar canal, girl's body found

Ahmedabad: A young couple - Laxmi Rathod, 19, and Jaimin Ravat, 20 - both residents of Madhavpura, jumped into Sughad canal in Gandhinagar on Wednesday afternoon. The fire brigade officials found the girl's body, while the boy is still missing.
About an hour later, Yogesh Thakker, 45, working as a conductor in GSRTC, jumped into the same canal, but was rescued.
According to Gandhinagar police sources, both Laxmi and Jaimin used to study in Sabarmati College in SY BCom and had been missing from the college since morning. "Along with fire department officials we are searching for the boy's body," said a police source.
Police said they came to know about Jaimin as they had found his motorbike near the canal. "We traced his house in Madhavpura from the registration number of the vehicle," said the source. tnn
