Pattali Makkal Katchi, if voted to power, will change the face of Tamil Nadu within five years.

The State will make a headway in the areas of health and education, as the PMK alone was competent of ensuring good governance, said Anbumani Ramadoss, the party’s Chief Ministerial candidate here on Wednesday.

Addressing an election meeting at Samayapuram near here, Dr. Ramadoss said the PMK would not offer any freebies and on the other hand would divert the funds towards education and health services. “Building a new Tamil Nadu with a strong base is the sole objective of the PMK,” he said highlighting the party’s election manifesto.

He slammed the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam for having “ruined the State”, particularly through the sale of liquor and distribution of freebies.

“You have been carrying a begging bowl for freebies and it is time that the fate of Tamil Nadu and the future generation is changed,” he told the voters, appealing to them to utilise the forthcoming election to usher in a change. He wondered how Mr. Karunanidhi, who was responsible for lifting the dry law, would close the TASMAC shops.

Ms. Jayalalithaa too had adopted double standards with regard to enforcement of prohibition, he alleged.

Earlier, he introduced the PMK candidates to the voters.
