42 file nominations in Virudhunagar

IN THE FRAY:Former DMK Minister Thangam Thennarasu filing nomination for Tiruchuli Assembly constituency in Virudhunagar district on Wednesday.

A total of 42 candidates, including former Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam Minister Thangam Thennrasu and former Tenkasi MP P. Lingam of the Communist Party of India, filed their papers for the Assembly election in seven constituencies in the district on Wednesday.

Mr. Thennarasu, the sitting MLA, filed the papers for Tiruchuli constituency for the second time. P. Lingam filed his nominations for Srivilliputtur Assembly seat. A. Gurusamy (CPI) and A.N. Ramachandran (BJP) filed their papers for Rajapalayam constituency.

Muthuvel Nachiyar of the Naam Tamilar Katchi, P. Gnanapandithan of the BJP and M. Balakrishnan of the PMK filed their nominations for Sattur Assembly constituency.

DMDK candidate R. Sudhakaran, BJP’s A.G. Parthasarathy and V. Maharajan of the All India Forward Bloc submitted their papers for Sivakasi Assembly constituency.

M. Syed Haja Sherief of the DMDK, P. Ganeshperumal of the PMK and V. Eswaran of the Tamilaga Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam filed their papers for Virudhunagar Assembly seat.

CPI candidate Senthilkumar, PMK’s Aravindkumar, A. Nagendran of the Naam Tamilar Katchi and P. Mahendran of the Tamilaga Makkal Katchi were the candidates who filed their nomination papers for Aruppukottai Assembly constituency.

A total of 71 candidates, including eight women, have filed their papers in the district so far.
