13 file papers in Kottayam, Kollam

With 13 more nominations filed in the district on Wednesday, the total number of candidates has increased to 31 so far. Filing of nominations will be over on Friday, April 29. Those who have filed nominations on Wednesday include: Poonjar: P.A. Abdul Hakkim and Sadique (Welfare Party of India); Raju (SUCI), and Santhosh (Kerala Janata Party); Pala: N. Hari (BJP), Rijo Joseph (Independent) and Baby (Kerala Congress (M)); Kaduthuruthy: Stephen (Kerala Congress); Vaikom: N.K. Neelakantan (BDJS); Ettumanur: K. Suresh Kurup and Jayapraksh (CPI(M)) and Naushad (PDP); Kottayam: Pius C.P. (Independent).

In Kollam

In Kollam too 13 nominations were filed on Wednesday.

The total number of nominations filed in the district is 38. The highest number of nominations was filed on April 25; eighteen.

From Chavara, Kottarakara, Punalur, Chadayamangalam, Kundara, and Eravipuram, four nominations each have been filed. From Kollam, Kunnathur, Karunagapally, and Chathannur, three nominations each have been filed and from Pathanapuram, two nominations.

The nominations filed comprise Labour Minister Shibu Baby John (Chavara) and former ministers, Mullakara Ratnakaran, and M.M. Hassan (Chadayamangalam). Actors M. Mukesh (Kollam) and Jagadeesh (Pathanapuram) have filed their nominations.

State secretary of the Revolutionary Socialist Party A.A. Azeez filed his nomination from Eravipuram.

5 in Pathanamthitta

The Returning Officers in Thiruvalla, Aranmula, Ranni and Konni received five more nominations on Wednesday. Kerala Congress (M) general secretary Joseph M. Puthussery; the sitting MLA, Mathew T. Thomas of the Janata Dal (S); and Feby Eapen Cherian, an Independent, submitted their papers in Thiruvalla. Communist Party of India (Marxist) nominee for the Aranmula seat Veena George; Bharat Dharma Jana Sena nominee for the Ranni seat K. Padmakumar; and the CPI(M) nominee for the Konni seat R. Sanalkumar too filed their nomination on Wednesday.
