31 file nomination in two districts

Sitting MLA M.H. Jawahirullah, Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam nominee Singai Jinnah and Tamizhaga Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam founder leader P.John Pandian were among 31 candidates who filed nominations to contest from eight Assembly constituencies in Ramanathapuram and Sivaganga districts in the May 16 elections.

Mr. Jawahirullah, seeking re-election in Ramanathapuram, Mr. Singai Jinnah and Pattali Makkal Katchi nominee Abdul Latheef filed their papers before Revenue Divisional Officer Rampradeepan in Ramanathapuram.

Mr. John Pandian, who has entered the fray to contest from Tiruvadanai, filed his papers before District Supply Officer Rajasekaran. Naam Tamilar Katchi candidate R. Rajiv Gandhi also filed his papers to contest from the constituency. In Paramakudi (Reserved), Viduthalai Chituthaigal Katchi nominee P. Irulan filed his papers.

Sivaganga

In Sivaganga district, Chithra Selvi (DMK) Mapel Sakthi (DMK) and Sathiah (CPI) filed their papers to contest from Manamadurai (Res) Sivangana and Tirupattur respectively. In all, 18 candidates filed their papers in Ramanathapuram district and 13 candidates in Sivaganga district.
