BJP MP rakes up Aircel-Maxis deal
NEW DELHI: Urging speedy action on the Aircel-Maxis deal, BJP lawmaker Nishikant Dubey on Tuesday in the Lok Sabha targeted a former finance minister in the case.
Speaking during the Zero Hour in the Lok Sabha, Dubey said raids by the Enforcement Directorate had led to documents which made it an "open and shut case", revealing that a Congress politician's gra- nd-daughter was the sole beneficiary in the will of four shareholders of a firm associated with the scam.
While the BJP MP did not name anyone, agencies have linked Aircel deal with P Chidambaram's son Karti. Karti Chidambaram has since denied the charge.
Dubey alleged that the UPA rule reeked of corruption as he named some companies allegedly involved in the case.
"The CBI must file an FIR at the earliest so that the guilty could be brought to book," he said amid protests from Congress members, including Mallikarjun Kharge and K C Venugopal.
Jyotiraditya Scindia was heard protesting to the Speaker as to why "double standards" were being adopted as his party was not allowed to raise the VVIP chopper scam issue on which it had given notice for an adjournment motion, but this one was allowed.
BJD's Bhartruhari Ma- htab and Tathagata Satpathy demanded a response from the government.
