Girl killed in bldg collapse in Tirupati

Tirupati: A three-storied building collapsed in the temple town killing a girl and injuring another. The incident occurred at Isuka Street after municipal workers excavated earth too close to the building to construct a drain.
The foundation of the structure turned weak leading to its fall.
Two girls, who were in the building, were trapped under the debris.One of them died on the spot while the other was rushed to hospital with critical injuries.
The deceased has been identified as Harika, 15 while the injured Girishma, 14, was admitted to CMC Hospital in Vellore.
Chief minister Chandrababu Naidu expressed grief over the incident and directed Chittoor district collector Siddharth Jain to extend ex gratia to the kin of the victim. Senior revenue and police officials rushed to the spot and took up rescue operations. Tirupati police registered a case.
