Will make TRS stronger: KCR
Khammam: Chief minister and Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao on Wednesday recalled the formation days of the party and how the dream of a separate state eventually came true.
Addressing a mammoth public meeting here as part of the TRS plenary, Chandrasekhar Rao recalled how there were many naysayers when he launched TRS on April 27, 2001 at Jaladrusyam in Hyderabad.
"All of them have disappeared but TRS has grown in strength, made the dream of Telangana as a state possible," he said.
"I am 63 now. I have no more wishes. What can be greater than achieving Telangana?" he asked. "The chief minister's post is nothing compared to getting statehood, but I wanted to make sure that the foundations of the new state are laid strong," he said.
He also assured that Telangana farmers will get round-the-clock three-phase power supply by 2019 as the nearly one lakh crowd cheered lustily. Referring to Paleru by-poll scheduled for May 16, the chief minister sought votes for his party candidate and roads and buildings minister Tummala Nageswar Rao. He promised that irrigation projects sanctioned for Khammam district including Bhaktha Ramdass and Seetarama projects would be completed before his government's term ends in 2019.
Though the chief minister spoke of many issues, he did not touch upon distribution of three acre of farm land to landless dalits. Earlier, speaking at the plenary in the afternoon, KCR said he would focus henceforth on strengthening the party organisation as he was busy in government administration so far.
"After two years of hard work, the administration has reached a satisfactory state. Now, it is time to focus on the party work. The government and party are like a pair of horses that need equal focus," he said. He also called upon people to contribute generously to the TRS fund. He said the bank account number to which the contribution to be sent would be published in newspapers shortly.

He assured that TRS cadre would be given positions in the party and government shortly. "Patience pays. If you are patient you will get posts and positions. The TRS workers who are working hard will definitely be rewarded," he said.
The chief minister turned his ire on the Congress which moved the Election Commision of India against the TRS. The CM, however, welcomed the EC's move to change district collector and superintendent of police of Khammam district in the wake of Paleru assembly by-election. "We are never for the misuse of power. We welcome the election commision's decision to change the SP and collector," he added.
The plenary was attended by 4,000 TRS delegates including all its elected representatives. It passed 15 resolutions including those on social welfare, irrigation, Mission Kakatiya, Mission Bhagiratha, two-bedroom houses scheme and public health. Finance minister Etela Rajender introduced the resolution on social welfare and irrigation minister T Harish Rao introduced the resolution on irrigation.
