CHAMBA: During its drug-trafficking campaign, the police seized 1,484 gm of charas from a pedestrian near the Bhalei nullah in the district today.

During its drug-trafficking campaign, the police seized 1,484 gm of charas from a pedestrian near the Bhalei nullah in the district today. The accused, identified as Jodh Singh, has been arrested.

Disclosing this information here, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), police headquarters, Bir Bahadur said a police party on patrol near the Bhalei nullah on suspicion intercepted a pedestrian. Upon checking his luggage, it recovered the charas from his possession.

A case under Section 20 of the NDPS Act had been registered at the Khairi police station, the DSP said. Further investigation was underway, he added. — OC
