Govt taking steps to expand irrigation facilities, inter link rivers to tackle drought situation: Radha Mohan Singh

New Delhi, Apr 27 (UNI) The Government today said it was making efforts to expand irrigation facilities in the country and for interlinking of rivers to tackle the drought situation in the country.
Replying to a short duration discussion in the Rajya Sabha on the situation arising out of prevailing drought and heat wave conditions and water crisis in the country and remedial measures taken by the Government in regard there to, Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh and Water Resources Minister Uma Bharti said work to complete pending irrigation projects would be taken up on priority and Ken and Betwa rivers would be linked this year itself.
The Opposition, however, expressed dissatisfaction with the reply by the Ministers and walked out in protest.
