Alex Wagner Leaves MSNBC for The Atlantic

Former MSNBC host Alex Wagner has joined The Atlantic as senior editor. She will write for the magazine, moderate events and create TV projects.

Wagner debuts in her new role this weekend as moderator of Unfinished Revolution: Women, Fairness & Power, an Atlantic Media event about the future of feminism.

“Alex embodies The Atlantic’s commitment to smart and lively journalism in both traditional and emerging spaces,” said Atlantic president and coo Bob Cohn. “With her wide range of editorial experience and her knowledge of politics, entertainment, and social issues, she’ll be an asset across our platforms.”

MSNBC canceled NOW with Alex Wagner last July in a sweeping reboot of its daytime lineup, as the network focused on news and away from progressive opinion.

In October, the network announced plans for Wagner to host a weekend show to replace Up with Steve Kornacki, but the show never happened.
