Three teenagers have been charged with starting a fire at the Snowdon Theatre.

The fire was started on Satuday March 26, 2016 in the abandoned theatre, and soon afterward people who spotted photos on social media tipped off police to the suspects.

Police arrested the three suspects within a matter of days, and they appeared in court on April 13 to be charged with arson, breaking and entering, and conspiracy.

One of the teens is also charged with public mischief.

In the photos posted online a young man can been seen standing above a pit of foam cubes that were used by gymnasts.

Other photos posted by the same user show what appear to be the first flames erupting in the pit, and a photograph of thick, black smoke rising to fill the room.

The items were posted to Snapchat, where videos and photos self-destruct after a short time -- however it is always possible for people who watch the items to save them to their own devices.

The Theatre has been abandoned since 2013 when the building was condemned, and was put up for sale by the borough earlier this year.
