Congress leader, accused of assaulting ex-wife leaves for US
CHANDIGARH: Hours after allegedly assaulting his ex-wife, Raj Kumari Behl, the senior congress leader, BB Behl, along with his second wife, Neelam Behl, has left for US in wee hours of Wednesday, police said.
Raj Kumari Behl, the ex-wife of Congress leader, complained against him and his second wife alleging that she was assaulted by them at Behl’s hotel in sector 26 on Tuesday night.
Police have registered an FIR against BB Behl and his second wife, Nirmal Behl, at Sector 26 police station. The FIR was regiatered under section 323, 341 and 506 of IPC.
SHO of PS 26, inspector Charanji Lal Mudgil, said, "The accused couple have gone to US. The foreign visit of Behls was scheduled. We are examining the legal options for making Behl couple available for joining the police investigation."
The incident took place when Raj Kumari along with Mamta Behl, daughter-in-law of the Congress leader, had gone to the Behl’s hotel to meet him regarding an issue. Mamta alleged that the BB Behl and his second wife attacked Raj Kumari Behl. The matter was reported to the police after it reached on the spot. Raj Kumari Behl was taken to the Government Multi Specialty Hospital (GMSH) sector 16 for medical examination in the evening.
