Govindbhai was likely choice for candidature while other names in discussion were Rajabhai Chariya(leader from Koli community), Bharat Vala(Gir Somnath district BJYM president) and Amit Unadkat(former chief of Talala municipality)
Talala assembly seat is vacant due to passing away of Congress’s sitting MLA Jashubhai Barad. Jashubhai passed away in hospital in Ahmedabad due to ill health.
Last date of filing nomination for Talala assembly by-poll is 29 April while polling is going to take place on 16 May. Results will be out on 19 May.
Congress party has yet not declared the name of its candidate. It is believed that due to caste equations, Congress was waiting BJP to first declare its candidate.
