In this video, Dr. Baskaran Pillai, responds to Prime Minister Modi's comment that "India is going to lead the World in the intellectual domain in the 21st Century."

Dr. Pillai: "I totally believe that concept, provided India rises to the level of excellence, utilizing not simply western ideas and western science and technology, but try to bring her own ancient technology and improve them, in the light of western science." ~Dr. Pillai

So to Modi’s idea I say, “Yes.” But I also want to mention that it cannot just be done in the way that things are being done in India in the research institutions, in colleges and schools.” So we need to identify areas that have potential, both intellectual potential, scientific potential, technological potential as well as revenue potential because the revenue is key.

All of these are possibilities, and then I am going to identify certain areas for those people who are watching this video clip to reflect on it and then, could promote the new idea of bringing ancient wisdom of India to the world.

Now here are the areas that I think have both potential, revenue potential as well as the scientific and technological potential.

1. Drug Discovery from Ayurvedic Medicine
Molecular identification of some of the Siddha, Ayurvedic Herbs is crucial. And that can lead to a great deal of possibility for revenue potential as well as finding medicines for different incurable diseases.

2. Study of Nada and Bindu in the light of modern physics, biophysics, biochemistry, optics, ophthalmology, and also acoustics, because there is so much literature on the understanding of Nada and different levels of Nada, and different aspects of Bindu. That itself would be subject matter for a whole university to go investigate.

3. Brain Mapping is very well studied in the Indian context and the Indian texts. And this is something that I am personally interested in doing some research, FMRI Studies

4. Anti-aging and Kayakalpa [Kaya Kalpha]. Anti-aging is a very, very important concept for Yogis of India and the Siddhas of India. They all wanted to live forever, and they knew how the body can be preserved, how youth-hood can be maintained. And there is also a tradition in China too about that, but the Indian one has used both herbs and also metals and also certain meditation practices, like Vasi Yoga. These are all very important techniques that can rejuvenate the cells in a dramatic way.

5. Intuition vs. Reasoning
We cannot ... only depend on the intellectual understanding which is the basis for our science and technology. However, Einstein said that all of his discoveries were made possible not because of reasoning. Very clearly he said it was because of intuition. That’s why he said, “Where science ends, there religion begins.” So that is a very important thing and India is the hotbed where you can learn about intuition, and knowledge, very intuitive knowledge.

Even Steve Jobs admitted that whatever he learned in India about intuition was the reason why he became successful. So the study of intuition in Indian philosophy, the Six Systems of Philosophy, is unlimited, and also the Vedas and the Agamas, contribute a lot to the study of intuition. We can study this in the light of modern brain science in the West.

6. Study of Different Spaces Corresponding to Different Sound Waves:
Einstein only talked about one Space, but there are different spaces corresponding to different knowledge and intelligence which also correspond to different sound waves. This is an important area that can give rise to developing new sciences, and the relationship between the brain and space. The relationship between the Brain and Space is an important area for the Yogis and the Siddhas.

7. Study of Time
Go to Google Search and look at Hindu metrics, they were able to see, like, 34-thousandth division of a second. They were able to see minuscule Time. They knew Time which is very, very minute. For instance, a mantra has to be completely within this very, very small unit of time for it to become very powerful.

So then there is psychological Time versus chronological Time. Time is also a psychological factor. This is something that Krishnamurti was interested in, but he was more philosophical. But this is science, this is physics. It’s neurology also. So that has to be studied in terms of physics and Brain science.

8. Terrorism - Inducing Peace Through Meditation Brain Waves
India has a technology, a Defense Technology that is based on peace.

9. Vedic Astrology As a Science
The greatest contribution of India is the Vedic Astrology. And thanks to Vajpayee and his Ministry, and the Supreme Court of India and the University Grants Commission, they just made Astrology as a discipline worthy of Academic studies and [they] gave grants.
