Patna: Magadh University (MU) vice-chancellor Prof Mohd Ishtiyaque on Tuesday visited JD Women's College and AN College here to take stock of arrangements made for the evaluation of Degree Part III (Honours) answer-books. The evaluation work is to begin at these two centres from May 2.
According to Patna MU branch office OSD Asha Singh, the VC had approved AN College and J D Women's College as the centres for carrying out evaluation work.
The university had given Rs5 lakh to A N College for making arrangements for the centralized evaluation work, she said.
Singh said the VC inspected the strong rooms at these colleges. He also discussed with the principals of these two colleges how to carry on centralized evaluation of answer-books under the strict surveillance of CCTV cameras. "Chief observers and static observers would be deployed at the two centres to maintain a close watch on the entire process," she said.
The VC appealed to all senior teachers of the university to take part in the evaluation work with the same spirit and responsibility as they had shown during invigilation duty at the Degree Part III (Honours) examination. He also urged senior teachers from Patna University, Bihar University, Veer Kunwar Singh University and J P University, Chhapra, to extend their cooperation in the evaluation work in case they are appointed head examiners or examiners for the centralized evaluation work. "This step has been taken with an aim to publish results on time," the VC said.
Singh said the university is keen to utilize services of retired teachers in answer-book evaluation work this time. About 1.37 lakh examinees appeared at Degree Part III (Honours) examinations at 60 centres spread in seven districts falling under MU jurisdiction. "Evaluation of answer-books of arts, science and commerce streams would be carried out at these two centres only," she said.
Patna MU branch OSD said the answer-books have already reached the strong rooms. The university would issue appointment letters to head examiners and examiners soon so that they could join their duty in time, she said, adding the VC directed principals of these two colleges to carry on regular classes separately at these centres in the larger interest of students.
Singh said these centres have been asked to make special arrangements of snacks, safe drinking water and cold drinks for head examiners and examiners at these two centres keeping in view the sultry weather condition.
