Central varsity Vice Chancellor seeks people's help to start session
Motihari: Mahatma Gandhi Central University (MGCU) VC Prof Arvind Agrawal has urged Motihari residents to help the varsity in getting a suitable accommodation to run the office and classes."We are very anxious to start the first academic session of this university from July as the Five Year plan period of the government will conclude in 2017 and after that the university will face financial difficulties if allotted funds are not utilized," said the VC.

Last month, the East Champaran district administration had sent a proposal to the state government to allocate the buildings of RNM Ayurveda College and OBC hostel to start the classes of the university but it was not accepted by the government. The state government in a letter to the VC has asked to look for another building.
Incidentally, the UGC has already finalized the number of posts for faculties and other recruitments to be made in this university at the earliest keeping the centenary celebrations of Mahatma Gandhi's Champaran Satyagrah in view.
The VC said necessary papers like prospectus, ordinance, rules and regulations have been finalized and he is working hard to give a shape to the university. "Tender for hiring buildings will be floated soon," said the VC. He further said the university requires at least 1 lakh square feet area to accommodate the office, classes, hostels, and quarters for teachers and non-teaching staff. He said if the state government provides land by June 2016, the university can shift to its own buildings in 2018.
