It feels surreal: Vicky Kaushal on his film making it to Cannes again
Vicky Kaushal is excited, as his next film will also be screened at the Cannes Film Festival next month.
Vicky Kaushal first shot to fame with the Richa Chadha-starrer, Masaan (2015). Besides receiving critical appreciation, the film was also lauded at the Cannes Film Festival.
Now, Vicky’s upcoming movie Raman Raghac 2.0, which has been directed by Anurag Kashyap, has also made it to the festival. And the actor is thrilled. “I find it difficult to believe that I’m capable of receiving such good things so early in my career. Last year, I made my Cannes debut with Masaan. And my next has also made it to the festival. It feels surreal and special,” says Vicky.

Besides acting, Vicky has also assisted Anurag on a couple of films. “Working with Anurag sir, as an assistant director, on both the parts of Gangs Of Wasseypur (2012) was the best schooling I could have asked for. To now be acting in his film means a lot to me. God has been kind in my journey so far,” he says.

Does he feel that actors, who do offbeat films, get typecast as character artistes over time? “I believe a film is a director’s medium, and the content becomes its backbone. So, if a story and the director’s vision excite me, I would want to be part of that project. My choices don’t depend on any fear [of getting typecast]. At the end of the day, I just want to entertain the audience with my performance.”
