Noida: The District Bar Association (DBA) has threatened to disrupt toll collection at the DND Flyway on May 7 to press for their long-pending demand for a separate high court bench in western Uttar Pradesh.
Seeking support for their "legitimate" demand, a group of DBA members met BJP MP from Gautam Budh Nagar and Union minister Mahesh Sharma on Tuesday.

"The minister said that being an MP from western UP, he supports the creation of a separate high court bench here and assured us of every kind of help for the cause," Pramendra Bhati, Gautam Budh Nagar DBA president, told TOI.
"He also said he would try to arrange a meeting of DBA members with Union law minister DV Sadananda Gowda and finance minister Arun Jaitley so that we can apprise them of our demands," Bhati added.
The association, along with some local farmers and trade unions, had organised a 'panchayat' on Monday and led a demonstration outside the Jewar tehsil office, following which a group of representatives handed over a memorandum to naib tehsildar Mohammed Ali.
"Ours is a three-decade-old demand. It is a pity that while high courts of other states like Uttarakhand, Punjab and Haryana and Delhi are nearer to us, people of western UP have to travel around 700 kilometres to seek justice at the Allahabad high court," Bhati said.
He rued that previous governments had ignored their demands and there has been no headway due to a continuous blame-game between the centre and state governments. "Earlier, the UP government would say it is the Centre that has to sanction the creation of a separate HC bench for western UP, while the latter would shift the blame on the state government. But, it is for the Centre to take a call," Bhati said.
