TechnologyOne and QUT Code Network go head-to-head in gaming decathlon

26-04-2016

Australia's largest enterprise software provider TechnologyOne (ASX:TNE) and Code Network recently went head-to-head in TechnologyOne's annual gaming tournament, with TechnologyOne taking out the trophy for the first time.

Hosted at the software provider's headquarters in Brisbane, the event featured a gaming decathlon, concluding with a Rock Band decider as the grand finale. TechnologyOne's R&D Group Director and Queensland University of Technology (QUT) Alumni Brett Hooker said the networking event was a key part of TechnologyOne's commitment to engaging with local STEM students.

'We're an innovative, forward thinking company. Key to that innovation is engaging with Australia's best and brightest young talent,' Mr Hooker said.

'Not only does it ensure we remain at the forefront of the industry, but it also ensures we are investing in the success of the IT industry as a whole. Australia's knowledge industries will be the future of our economy, and it is vital that businesses invest in the industry, universities and young talent.'

The networking event is an opportunity for students to meet software experts at TechnologyOne before applying for the company's graduate intake at the end of each year. The company currently commits to onboarding at least 20 new STEM graduates each as part of its graduate program, as well as endeavouring to fill all open R&D positions throughout the year with graduates.

TechnologyOne is also renowned for it paid intern program, which last year was recognised as one of Australia's best in Interns Australia's National Fair Internship Pledge (NFIP).

'We believe young talent programs will be the foundation of the future of Australian IT,' Mr Hooker said.

'Australia has a growing shortage of STEM-qualified professionals, and it is critical that we, as an Australian software company, get students interested in technology to sustain and grow our national technology industry.

'These students are the next generation of IT professionals and our future industry leaders. It's exciting to consider their potential and the creative impact they can have on the future of IT.

'Working at TechnologyOne would provide them with a huge opportunity to establish their career in a well-known, local business with a history of global success.'
