Bihar: Washrooms in all police stations for women cops

The new recruits are undergoing training and will be ready for field postings within the next three months.

Having recently recruited nearly 4,000 new women constables, Bihar Police has directed all superintendents of police in the state to ensure that two toilets and as many bathrooms are constructed at each police station in the state within three months.

The new recruits are undergoing training and will be ready for field postings within the next three months. The recruitments are part of the Nitish Kumar government’s newly introduced 35-per cent reservation for women in government jobs.

There are around 850 police stations in the state and to hasten the work, as the new recruits will be given postings only after the washrooms are constructed, all police stations in-charge have been asked to give details of their bank accounts to the state Home Department. “If some police stations are operating from rented houses, police station heads should tell the houseowners that additional rent would be paid (to meet the cost of constructing the washrooms),” Principal Secretary, Home, Amir Subhani, said.
