Pinarayi brushes aside Oommen Chandy’s threat

April 27, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:38 am IST - KOTTAYAM:

CPI(M) politburo member Pinarayi Vijayan has said that the allegations raised by the Leader of the Opposition V.S. Achuthanandan are issues that have been in popular minds and have been raised by his own former colleagues earlier.

Addressing election rallies at Kuravilangad, Pala and Erattupetta, Mr. Vijayan alleged that the statement made by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy to the effect that he would take legal recourse to Mr. Achuthanandan’s allegations were mere threats, as he had no answers for those charges.

According to Mr. Vijayan, former colleagues like T.H. Mustafha and Ramachandran Master had raised similar charges against Mr. Chandy.

“Similar allegations were raised against Mr. Chandy many times during the last five years. Why did he not to take legal action then,” Mr. Vijayan asked.

Mr Chandy had received critical comments even from the judiciary, the CPI(M) leader said.

Farming community

According to him, the UDF had failed the farming community, which had voted overwhelmingly for the UDF in the last elections.

The LDF has chalked out a detailed strategy to revive the sagging fortunes of the farmer, he pointed out.

Focussed attention will be given to ensure increased rubber consumption in the State, he added.
