Exhibition

Hastashilpi, an organisation registered with the Union Ministry of Textiles, will organise an exhibition, Silk India- 2016 in Coimbatore from April 27 to May 2 at Suguna Kalyana Mandapam here. Various silk sari weavers, handloom clusters and cooperative societies will be showcasing their products. “The objective of our organisation is to make products of small scale weavers and artisans available to customers without the involvement of middlemen,” says its organiser, T. Abhinand. Saris, suits, silk bed covers, designer dress materials, borders, and kurtis in materials like Arini silk, Crepe, Georgette, Chiffon, Tassar Kanjeevaram, Managalagiri, Pochampalli and the sort, will be on display.

Scholarships

The A.P.J Abdul Kalam Welfare Society is giving away ‘All India Bright student’ awards and scholarships for students of Standards IV to X. They will be selected on the basis of a written test to be held on May 15. Students are allowed to write either in English, Telugu or Urdu. The question paper will comprise of 100 objective type questions. Applications can be downloaded from the website of the society. Hall Tickets will be issued after May 1 at all district head quarters and mandals. Top 100 rankers will be given cash prizes.
