Woman,70, found dead

A 70-year-old woman was found murdered at her house in Athimancherrypet near Pothatturpet in Pallipattu, 110km from Chennai, on Tuesday morning. Police said A Gajammal suffered a head injury and her three sovereign gold chain was missing. A neighbour noticed Gajammal's main door open and the woman lying in a pool of blood and informed police.
Two drown in Kovalam: Two men from Guduvanchery who went fishing at Kovalam drowned on Monday.Their bodies were retrieved by fire and rescue services personnel on Tuesday. Police said Gopi, 40, and his relative Murali, 33, did not know swimming and drowned.
Kanchi court convicts man from Assam: A 30-year-old man on Tuesday was sentenced to life imprisonment for murder and fined 5,000 by a court in Kancheepuram. Principal sub-judge K Karunanidhi sentenced Sanjay Kumar Singh of Assam, a private firm employee in Oragadam, for stabbing his colleague to death over a quarrel.
Man attacks woman, flees with gold chain: An unidentified man attacked a woman at her house in Villivakkam and snatched her chain on Tuesday. Police said Sheela, 56, was alone at home when the man entered the house and attacked her.
