Tirumala: The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) will hold Srinivasa Kalyanam, an event to replicate the daily rituals performed at Sri Venkateswara temple, in Nairobi on May 22. This will be the first religious event by TTD outside India and the US.
TTD has been regularly holding Srinivasa Kalyanam in the US attracting thousands of devotees. Nairobi has a large population of Indians and people of Indian origin.
TTD plans to hold similar events in other parts of the world.
The TTD trust board, which held its meeting here on Tuesday, accepted the invitation of the managing committee of Sri Venkateswara Swamy temple in Nairobi to hold Srinivasa Kalyanam there.
Sources said depending on the response in Nairobi, the TTD will hold similar events in other parts of the world.
Though Srinivasa Kalyanam is held for about a week, it has restricted the event only to a day in Nairobi.
The board has also decided to conduct Ramanuja Sahasrabdi from May 10.
As part of this, Ramanuja Ratham will be taken in a procession covering all the 106 Vaishnava Divya Desams in the country. Vaishnava Divya Desams are the temples mentioned in the works of Tamil saints. The programme will continue till the end of May.
