Terming the today’s meeting between Indian and Pakistan Foreign Secretaries as a welcome step, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference has expressed hope that both the countries would initiate a meaningful dialogue process to resolve all pending issue, including Kashmir.

A spokesperson of the moderate separatist group said the Hurriyat’s stand had always been that dialogue remained the effective way to resolve all issue between the two neighbouring countries, including the all-important Kashmir issue. “The conglomerate hopes that the meeting between the Foreign Secretaries of the two countries would help in creating the required peaceful atmosphere and remove the air of mistrust between the two countries so that the dialogue process could move ahead,” he said.

Terming the statement of the Pakistani Foreign Secretary about Kashmir being the core issue as factual, the spokesperson said Kashmir was the basic issue between India and Pakistan, which needed to be addressed in the dialogue processes between the two countries, besides creating a mechanism to include the people of Kashmir in the dialogue.
