Harris has been selected to supply an integrated battle-space communication system to the Australian Defence Force (ADF).

The company was selected by the Commonwealth of Australia for the Land 2072 Phase 3 programme, which forms part of the Australian Army’s Networked Digitisation Plan.

As part of the programme, Harris will supply a voice and data communications network to tactical forces over line-of-sight and beyond-line-of-sight applications.

Harris Defence Australia president and managing director Alan Callaghan said: "This agreement reinforces Harris’ status as a trusted partner and continues our long-standing commitment to providing the Australian Defence Force with secure communications and networking solutions.

"Harris is proud to be part of such a pivotal programme and to support the Australian Army’s continued modernisation efforts."

The company will provide tactical radios and other systems to the ADF.

Harris also secured orders worth $20m from the US Army Communications-Electronics Command (CECOM) to modernise defence force communications for several Middle East and North African nations.

Received under the foreign military sales (FMS) programme, the orders require Harris to supply single-channel ground and airborne radio system (SINCGARS) vehicular radios.

The radios will deliver real-time mobile command and control of armoured assets over secure voice and data communication links.

With nearly 22,000 employees, Harris provides communication, space and intelligence, and electronic systems, as well as critical networks.

The company recently sold its aero-structures business to Albany International in a $210m deal.
