Borderlands movie finds its screenwriter

Lionsgate has announced who will be penning the upcoming Borderlands movie, which is being described as Mad Max in space.

The upcoming film adaption of the Borderlands video game has snapped up Section 6 writer Aaron Berg to write the script.

The Hollywood Reporter’s sources say that it’s going to be an edgy, R-rated take on Borderlands. It’s also being described as Mad Max in space.

Arad Productions, which is run by Avi Arad and his son Ari Arad, is producing the film. When the project was first announced, they said, "Borderlands has a unique story-driven narrative energy and rich multi-dimensional characters that position it to become a singular motion picture event.”

In other Borderlands news, Gearbox announced over the weekend that it has started development on Borderlands 3.
