Salman Khan has delivered a huge number of blockbusters in his 28-year-long film career. Surprisingly, most of them are remakes of films from down South.
"Judwaa," which has been in the news for its sequel where Varun Dhawan will be seen essaying a double role, was a remake of Telugu film "Hello Brother" starring Akkineni Nagarjuna Soundarya and Ramya Krishna, Catch News reported.
Salman Kan's portrayal of doting brother Raju in action-drama "Bandhan" (1998) was borrowed heavily from Tamil film "Pandithurai." "Biwi No. 1," which saw him essay a rich businessman who cheats on his wife (played by Karisma Kapoor) with a model (Sushmita Sen), was taken from Kamal Haasan's "Sathi Leelavathi."
"Tere Naam," "No Entry," "Bodyguard," "Ready," "Wanted," "Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega," "Jai Ho," "Kick," "Hello Brother," "Dil Ne Jise Apna Kaha," "Kyon Ki," "Shaadi Karke Phas Gaya Yaar," and "Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam" are other films that are remakes of Southern films.
Of the many hits he has delivered, most came from remakes. The only original scripts (which have gone on to make money at the box office) he signed in these years are "Dabangg," "Dabangg 2," "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" and "Prem Ratan Dhan Payo."
"Sultan," the Yash Raj Films production that arrives in theatres this Eid, is another original story. This Ali Abbas Zafar directorial follows the story of Haryana-based wrestler Sultan Ali Khan and his love interest, played by Anushka Sharma.
The superstar is in Uttar Pradesh shooting for the final leg.
