Raut wins All India FIDE rating chess title

Vaibhav Raut, a student of Narayana Vidylayam, emerged champion in the All India Open (Below 1800) Fide Rating Chess tournament recently held at Jalgaon.

NAGPUR: Vaibhav Raut, a student of Narayana Vidylayam, emerged champion in the All India Open (Below 1800) Fide Rating Chess tournament recently held at Jalgaon.
Champion Vaibhav won a cash prize of Rs 35,000 along with a trophy. His ELO Rating has increased by 60 points and became 1830.
During the first eight rounds of the tourney, Gajanan Jayde of Mumbai and Vaibhav were fighting for the crown. In the ninth round on the top board, Harshal Kale of Aurangabad forced Jayde to settle for a draw.
On the other hand, Vaibhav performed well and clinched the title.
Vaibhav gives credit of his success to his parents, school principal Mala Chambeth, sports teacher Umesh Panbude, Yogesh Dihman and coach Gurpreet Singh Maras.
