The U.S. will deploy mobile multiple rocket launchers on Turkey’s border with Syria to help it more effectively battle Islamic State, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu told Haberturk newspaper in an interview published on Tuesday.

The deployment in May is designed to alleviate problems Turkey has encountered in trying to stop intensified rocket barrages on its frontier by the militant group. Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said Saturday that Turkey’s defense has been complicated by the fact that Islamic State fighters use mobile, truck-mounted launchers that allow them added flexibility.
