Ruling party MLA faces harassment charges
Bhubaneswar: A woman on Monday moved the State Commission for Women here accusing BJD's Rairangpur MLA Saiba Sushil Kumar Hansdah of torturing her mentally. The complainant also belongs to the ruling party.
"For the past two years, the MLA and one of his close associates have been torturing me mentally when I opposed their corrupt practices. They have been embezzling government funds meant for development works in the area.
The legislator threatened me to kill when I raised my voice," she told mediapersons.
She also alleged that the MLA and his associates sought sexual gratification from her. On April 14, the MLAs associates misbehaved with me at a programme in Rairangpur, she said. Asked about the delay in levelling such allegations after two years, she said she was frightened. "They are influential people. I earlier planned to take the help of the police against the MLA. But he had threatened me of dire consequences."
Hansdah, a first-time MLA, rubbished her charges. "She is involved in anti-party activities. When I warned her, she threatened me to implicate me in false case. Her allegations are false," Hansdah told TOI.
