Apple to Unify Offline and Online iPhone Prices

BENGALURU: In the background of a proposed launch of Apple's retail stores in India, the company is planning for uniform pricing with both offline and online retail stores to close the pricing gap. After similar kind of an initiative from Samsung, this move from Apple can make the phones cost almost the same in both online and offline stores.

The poor trades of iPhone SE in India have further quickened the move of Apple to push for uniform pricing structure. Indeed, offline sales of iPhones had taken a hit because of the immense discounts that the online vendors offers, to which Apple central command has not taken in great soul. It is also trusted that top Apple India authorities have informed its four wholesalers in India including Ingram Micro, Redington, Beetel-Brightstar and Rashi Peripherals about the new arrangement.

Samsung Electronics was the first company to introduce the concept of uniform pricing across offline and online stores. This move has assisted the company to rise up its sales in the country and has also strengthened its domination in the smartphone market. The Economic Times quoted Apple as saying that the company does not control prices and there has been no change in maximum retail prices where the company replied that "It is wholly incorrect for your line of questioning to assert that Apple has communicated any pricing change,". The price drops in Apple phones that were made to achieve targets will also be discontinued from now on as the company wants to bring back its channel hygiene.
