Woman held for prostitution
Vasco: Vasco police nabbed a woman involved in supplying girls for prostitution by planting a decoy customer on Monday afternoon and rescued a 30-year-old Nepal resident.
Vasco police station in charge Kapil Nayak said, "We received information that a 34-year-old woman from Khariawaddo, Gulshan Khan is involved in this business and supplies women to customers.
Accordingly we laid a trap to apprehend her."
After verifying the information, Vasco police contacted the accused and set up a meeting. The rendezvous was fixed at a restaurant in Bogmallo at around 1pm. The accused brought a 30-year-old Nepal native and introduced her to the decoy customer planted by the Vasco police. After the money was given to the accused, she was caught red-handed.
The victim informed the police that she came from Nepal some years ago to look for a job. Her husband left her and now she stays with her partner at Pilerne, Saligao. She also stated that before meeting the accused about two months ago, she used to work in massage parlours at Panaji. She has been moved to the protection home at Merces.
The Vasco police have arrested Khan under Immoral Trafficking Prevention Act and will produce her before the Vasco judicial magistrate first class on Monday.
