Bus shelter collapses at Velsao

Vasco: An old bus shelter at Velsao collapsed on Monday morning. A minor girl from the locality, who was waiting for a bus, had a miraculous escape with minor injuries.
At about 8am, the girl was standing outside the bus stand. The cement-built stand was very old, had developed major cracks and was in a dilapidated condition.
The villagers had earlier demanded demolitions of such structures posing a risk to the lives of people.
Usually, during school days, many students take shelter under this structure, especially during monsoon. Sensing trouble about the structure, the girl stood outside. When it came down, she escaped with minor injuries. Villagers were quite upset with government bodies for not taking precaution against such man-made disasters.
