New York Yankees righthander Nathan Eovaldi lost a no-hitter against the Texas Rangers in the seventh inning on Monday night.

Entering the frame, Eovaldi, 26, had thrown 78 pitches with 53 coming in for strikes. A Nomar Mazara single in the bottom of the inning ended Eovaldi’s quest for history.

He is currently in the midst of his sixth MLB season, during which he has thus far posted an 0–2 record with a 4.56 ERA.

The last time a Yankees pitcher threw a no-hitter was in 1999, when David Cone pitched a perfect game against the Montreal Expos.

The Yankees led the Rangers 3–0 after seven innings.
