Residents stage protest

April 26, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:36 am IST - COIMBATORE:

Residents of Arul Nagar in Ward 45 staged a protest for a brief while on Monday morning to highlight the delay in cleaning drain. Sources said that the residents took to the street near the police outpost at the Kanappan Nagar Junction to complain that the civic body had not cleaned the drain and that sewage flow was choked.

As the Councillor Gunasekaran was away, Ward 44 Councillor Venthamarai Balu rushed to the spot, convinced the residents that the drain would be cleaned and asked them to return home. Mr. Balu said that he went there as a party colleague to sort out the problem.
