Indore: The sale of popular dry fruits ladoo at the Mahakaleshwar temple touched Rs 10 lakh on the first Shahi Snan day as against average sale of around Rs 1 lakh on a normal day. The temple administration sold 30 quintals of ladoo through counter sale inside the temple complex.
During the month-long Simhastha, the average sale of ladoos is expected to range between Rs 8 lakh and Rs 10 lakh daily.

"Devotees coming for Mahakal darshan are taking ladoos for their family and relatives. The demand for the prasad is growing and we have made sufficient arrangements for supplying it to every devotee," said Priti Chouhan, assistant administrator, Shree Mahakaleshwar Temple. Chouhan said around 25 quintals of ladoos will be available for sale every day on the temple premises. The temple committee earned over Rs 30 lakh just from the sale of ladoos in the past four days.
The temple authorities said that besides earnings from sale of ladoos, daily collection from donation boxes is around Rs 6 lakh per day. There are 71 donation boxes kept at different places in temple complex.
"We are also earning Rs 2 to Rs 3 lakh from the sale of special darshan tickets every day. The figure might go up on the days when crowd is more," Chouhan said. The price of the ticket has been increased to Rs 250 per person from Rs 151.
