Cars damaged by fallen tree

Vadodara: An uprooted tree brought traffic near Kuber Bhavan in Kothi area of the city to a standstill on Monday afternoon. Five cars were damaged in the incident. City fire brigade personnel cleared the road off the fallen tree, helping in the resumption of traffic movement after a couple of hours of the incident.
"It took us nearly two hours to clear up the road of the tree.The traffic had to be diverted to another route. The cars were parked in the shade of the tree when it fell on them. Fortunately, no one was on the road when the massive tree fell," fire officer Manish Mod said.
The 50-year-old tree had begun to tilt as its roots had got damaged due to construction of pavement around it. Two cars were fully destructed, but no electricity wires or other cables were damaged.
