The Mysuru Dasara exhibition premises will be given a facelift at a cost of Rs. 18 crore. Apart from revamping the premises, a Cauvery museum, a tourist plaza and an air-conditioned hall on the lines of the one in Pragathi Maidan will be constructed within one-and-half years. Modern toilets will also be constructed at a few places on the premises.

The entrance of the exhibition premises will change and a new LED board would be erected. P. Kalingarao Pandal, which is now an open air theatre, will be turned into a mega hall. A permanent children’s play area would be set up too.

R. Murthy, chairman of Karnataka Exhibition Authority, told The Hindu here on Saturday that of the Rs. 18 crore, KEA had Rs. 8 crore of its own. The Chief Minister had released special grants of Rs. 5 crore to develop the premises. Another Rs. 3.5 crore had been released for the Cauvery museum from the State government, he said adding that the Tourism Department had released Rs. 1.7 lakh for constructing the tourist plaza.

Mr. Murthy said that different agencies have been assigned the job of renovation. The KEA is also utilising the Rs. 2 crore earned by it during the previous Dasara exhibition.

Also, the entire pathway will be asphalted at a cost of Rs. 86 lakh, Mr. Murthy said.
